Founded by Halim Ambiya on February 8, 2012, Tasawuf Underground has become a safe space for the marginalized. We believe that every human being, no matter how dark their past, has the potential for Divine light within them.
Our main focus is to embrace street youth, punks, and other marginalized groups with compassion, humanizing them, and guiding them to find the map back home to Allah without an ounce of judgment.
Introducing the concept of Divine Love (Mahabbah). Cleansing the heart (Tazkiyatun Nafs) from past inner wounds through Dhikr and peaceful spiritual approaches.
Combining modern psychological counseling with Islamic monotheism values to heal trauma, addiction, and identity crises frequently experienced by street youth.
Accepting them as they are, without looking at physical appearance, tattoos, or their past. We provide a halfway house full of acceptance.
Equipping street students with basic religious knowledge (reading & writing the Quran, daily worship, monotheism) using a friendly and applicable curriculum.
Job skills training and providing coffee shops/micro-businesses so they can become financially independent and ready to rejoin society.
Utilizing social media to spread peaceful Islamic teachings and embrace youth more broadly through positive literacy programs.
Our da'wah journey captured by various national and independent media outlets.
"The streets used to be our home... Now, we have found true freedom: peace of mind."
